BOOK MALALA, THE GIRL WHO WANTED TO GO TO SCHOOL

Malala Yousafzai almost lost her life because she wanted to go to school. She was born in the Swat Valley, in Pakistan, a region of extraordinary beauty, coveted in the past by conquerors such as Genghis Khan and Alexander the Great, and protected by the brave Pashtun warriors – the mountain people. It was inhabited by kings and queens, princes and princesses, just like in fairy tales. Malala grew up in the halls of her father, Ziauddin Yousafzai's school, and was one of the first students in her class. When he was ten years old he saw his city being controlled by an extremist group called the Taliban. Armed, they watched the valley night and day, and imposed many rules. They banned music and dancing, banned women from the streets and determined that only boys could study. But Malala was taught from a young age to stand up for what she believed in and fought for the right to continue studying. She made words her weapon. On October 9, 2012, while returning from school on the bus, he was shot. Few believed she would survive.
